Kdy: | 16. 9. 2025, 17:00 – 18:00 |

For more than 25 years BioOne has believed in a more collaborative, equitable, and sustainable scholarly communications system, and delivered critical content from our community of non-profit society publishers to a worldwide audience. We are proud to introduce a Subscribe to Open pilot which will further benefit researchers in the biological, environmental, and ecological sciences by providing a path to greater open access.
Our S2O pilot will span 2026 – 2028, and include 71 titles from 54 society publishers, including the first S2O titles from Japan, China, Kenya, and Brazil. Via Subscribe to Open, all current-year content from these titles will publish open access if subscription revenue meets the year’s sustainability threshold – all without APCs.
Join members of the BioOne library and publisher community on Tuesday September 16 to explore how this model aligns with BioOne’s mission and values, supports nonprofit publishers and their authors, and helps libraries meet both financial and research-centered aims. Attendees will also learn how libraries and consortia can participate, how to gauge impact and value of S2O offers, and have ample time to ask questions while contributing to this important discussion.
Be part of this important conversation about the next chapter in sustainable open access. Your participation matters as we embark on the path forward together. Can’t make it live? Register and receive a link to the recording.

COUNTER has been the standard for usage metrics for more than two decades, but the world has changed. Can COUNTER tell us what we need to know about open access or syndicated usage? What about generative and agentic AI? Some would argue that we need something new. In this webinar, we’ll hear from Tasha Mellins-Cohen about why we should be building on the solid COUNTER foundation. She’ll touch on how many publishers are already delivering OA-optimised reporting, best practice for reporting usage of syndicated content, and how the COUNTER community is collaborating to build guidelines for reporting AI usage.
Learning outcomes:
- Why we need normalised metrics
- What COUNTER is already doing in OA, syndication and AI
- Community collaboration opportunities
Speaker: Tasha Mellins-Cohen – Executive Director | COUNTER Metrics
